RADIO BAHÁ’Í BOLIVIA

Radio Bahá’í Bolivia, a service project of the National Spiritual Assembly, would like to receive applications from those friends who are able to meet the following conditions and requirements:
Location and Climate: The living conditions in the high mountain valleys of Bolivia oftentimes greatly influence the quality of service that individuals may render in this remote area. For this reason we would like to emphasize that Caracollo (location of Radio Bahá’í) is 25 miles (40 kms.) from the city of Oruro at an altitude of 12,470 feet above sea level (3,800 meters). It has a cold climate during most of the year, with the temperatures ranging from 46º F (8º C) in summer and spring, to - 6 º F (20º C) in fall and winter. With the exception of 2 or 3 months of the year, Caracollo is totally arid with an earth-colored appearance. The buildings in the area are made of mud and straw known as adobe. There is no Post Office and mail comes through Oruro. However, Radio Bahá’í does have a telephone, though the service can be a bit erratic at times.
The Bahá’í Community: Opportunities to serve the Faith and teach the Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh are very great and enriching in this special zone where the local people live under extreme conditions.
Principal Needs:
- A technician or expert with knowledge of solid state equipment and transmitters. A minimum period of service of one year is requested.
- A representative for Radio Bahá’í in Santa Cruz, Cochabamba or La Paz to make contact with NGO’s (Non-Governmental Organizations) for possible projects of cooperation with Radio Bahá’í. A minimum period of service of one year is requested.
- Travel teachers to teach the Faith in the transmission area of Radio Bahá’í and make effective use of the nearby Fewdowsi Institute. A minimum period of service of six months is requested.
